Our first sew day was a hit.  At various times during the day we had as many as 10 people helping. We cut kits for quilts and pillowcases, sewed quilts and pillowcases, found backs for already pieced tops, cut batting and kitted up quilts to be quilted. We were humming right along into the afternoon.

It was a fun, enjoyable way to visit, quilt and have lunch. The batting cutting table turned into the lunch table as all those that brought their lunches sat down for some lively conversation.

Except for July and December, the Thursday prior to our Guild Meeting will be Philanthropy Sew Day! Come and join us. There is work for all skill levels and interests. Bring your machine, thread and pins if you want to sew. Don’t forget your scissors, rotary cutter, cutting mat and electrical cords. There is fast food nearby for lunch or bring your own and join the fun.

The main focus of our sew days is to make donations to local charities listed in the Guild Yearbook/Roster on page xvii. Sew days are open to all guild members to come sew and have a fun day making kits and sewing for Philanthropy.

If you can’t come on sew days, rest assured that the guild will still have kits that can be picked up at each meeting.

The sew days will be at the Driftwood Mobile Home Park Community Center, at 15621 Beach Blvd, Westminster. The park is located at the southwest corner of Beach and McFadden in Westminster. Start time is 9:30 am to ? Join us for the whole time or as long as you can.

Sew days in 2015 will be:

February 5, March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4, August 6, September 3, October 8, and November 5. The dates are easy to remember, the Thursday BEFORE the guild meeting.

See you there!
