Block of the Month / Round Robin
Here’s How Block of the Month Works
BLOCK OF THE MONTH CHALLENGE
This challenge is all about showcasing your creativity, sharing ideas and having fun with fellow quilters.
Here’s how it works:
- There is a $5.00 fee to join the challenge. The money collected will be the grand prize at the end of the challenge.
- Each month we will select 2 different blocks to make. One will be more traditional and the other will be a bit more challenging. You may make one or both of the blocks.
- We will tell you the size to make of each of these blocks. The size of the blocks will differ from month to month.
- These are the only 2 rules you must follow: 1) make the selected blocks and 2) in the sizes stated.
- We invite your participation in suggesting blocks you would like to see incorporated in your quilt. We welcome and will consider any and all ideas.
- Bring your completed block(s) to guild the following month. We will issue a ticket for each completed block to win a monthly prize. For example, if you completed both blocks, you will have 2 chances to win the prize.
- At the end of the challenge we will draw the winning ticket for the grand prize from all of the previous months’ tickets.
- In January 2025 we will have a workshop on how to put the blocks together to create your own unique quilt.
We look forward to working with you with this challenge. Please consider joining us to see what each of us will create.
If you have further questions or ideas you like to share please contact Marilyn Pond or Janet Haynes.

Due April 10, 2024
For this month’s block, we want to challenge your creativity with two very versatile blocks.
For block 1, we chose the log cabin. You can make either a 9 inch or a 12 inch finished block using any variation of a log cabin.
For block 2, we are asking you to make a string pieced block, either a 6 inch or a 9 inch finished block. Our speaker this month Lori DeJarnatt is sure to provide inspiration in making an unique block.
