I have appreciation on my mind this month. Our guild runs due to the labor of love by so many volunteers and participants. That means taking on a job or responsibility that requires time and attention. I am proud to serve with so many dedicated women.

Just last month, we did not have a Tea & Auction committee, and the future of the event was being questioned. Well, all that is changed now. Thanks to 16 people willing to step up for some planning role, the Tea & Auction will proceed as scheduled. Drapes are scheduled; space is scheduled; the auctioneer is retained; tickets and advertising is in design phase and many more activities are cheduled out on our timeline. We had some new members join the planning process!

Special thanks go to:

Judy Hughes, Chair; Bonnie Lippincott, Publicity,Fliers, Tickets, Programs; Mary Anne Sletto, Opportunity Baskets; Fran Bodle & Sherry Lincoln, Boutique; Carol Logue, Admissions & pre-sale tickets; Barbara Purks, Auctioneers Assistant; Joann Schaum, Aquisitions; Susan Johnson & Mary Stockard, Quilt Layout, Hang Up and Take Down; Christi Kolisnyk, Hospitality; Patty Thompson & Cheryl Guacci, Table Decorations; and Jane Oglesby, Nancy Post and Marilyn Pond, Check-out.

There will also be many helpers on the day of the event. We will solicit volunteers for the spotters, runners, holders, set up, clean up, hang up, take down and food donations closer to October.

The Tea & Auction will be Saturday, October 3, 2015. Now is the time for all guild members to start deciding what quilt you want to donate to our auction. There have been so many quilts shown at Show & Tell, products from the UFO Challenge, that maybe there is one you can part with. Or it is time to pull out that UFO that can get finished by this fall.

The other thing to get started on is your handmade contributions to the boutique. We have so many talented people in the guild. What will you make for the boutique? We all love seeing the items and trying to get the one we want before others snag it.

Finally, I am so grateful to Susan Derring, who is working away at getting the New Member’s Luncheon ready for our new members. The last count of new members since our last luncheon was 37. Please make sure you RSVP to this fun event on Friday, June 5!
