Our good friend, loyal Guild member and talented quilt artist Jeri Lopes passed away on October 1, 2013. Jeri was born in Greenport, Long Island, New York. She joined Orange Grove Quilt Guild in 1989. She was very active but in a quiet way.She designed our birthday pins in 1992, 2002 and 2012. She also designed a couple of quilts for Susan G Komen. One was called “Come Shop With Me” and she also designed some of the blocks for the Teapot quilt. She designed an opportunity quilt that was Morning Glories. She was on the opportunity quilt committee 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010.
She was Historian 1994, 1996, 1997 and 2004. She did Block Bazaar with me in 1999. She also did Hospitality 1991 with Pat Swan.
She did the layout at our quilt shows for several years. She always wanted a “zinger” in front to draw attention to the other quilts. She had a very special way with color and was always eager to help anyone who asked.
She looked forward to every meeting and she will be sorely missed.
